
TOCCOA, Ga. — A traffic stop in Toccoa early Saturday morning led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and the arrest of two men, according to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stopped a Volkswagen SUV around 3 a.m. on June 20 on West Whitman Street for a traffic violation. Authorities said the driver pulled into an empty lot, got out of the vehicle, and ran toward the road before deputies made contact with him.
The driver was identified as 21-year-old Bryterion Lacy of Toccoa. A passenger, 21-year-old Jayden Floyd of Rosedale, Maryland, was also in the vehicle.
During the stop, deputies reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from both men. A probable cause search of the SUV revealed suspected marijuana residue on the front floorboards.
While searching the area near the stop, deputies said they found a plastic bag containing approximately 25.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Lacy and Floyd were arrested and taken to the Stephens County Detention Center.
Lacy is charged with possession of a controlled substance and two traffic violations. He remains jailed on a $7,000 bond.
Floyd is charged with possession of a controlled substance and remains jailed on a $5,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
