Teen arrested for gunning down 11-year-old boy in Columbus

A teen has been arrested for the shooting death of an 11-year-old boy in Columbus. According to the Columbus Police Department 17-year-old Jordan King was taken into custody in connection with the death. Jail records show King was booked inside the Muscogee County Jail at 5:45 AM July 10, 2026.

King is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and possession of a pistol or revolver by a person under 18 years old.

Kadin Harris was shot multiple times on Apex Road late Wednesday night. The 11-year-old Harris was pronounced dead at a local hospital from multiple gunshot wounds shortly after the shooting. A relative of the Harris family posted on Facebook that the child was killed during a “shootout”. Columbus police have not provided a detailed account of what happened or what prompted the deadly shooting.
