Tallulah Falls School’s spring sports seasons produced a wave of championships, state-level success, and record-breaking performances across girls tennis, golf, and track and field, with all three programs making deep postseason runs and adding to the school’s growing athletic legacy.
Tennis: State runner-up caps historic girls run
The Lady Indians tennis team delivered a program-best state runner-up finish, closing the year 14-6 while capturing a fourth consecutive region championship and going 5-1 in region play.
Coach Anthony Cox’s lineup peaked at the right time, highlighted by a postseason win over No. 2-ranked Brookstone in the semifinals before falling in the state title match. The team also recorded 11 shutout victories and opened the season with 10 straight wins.
The senior class anchored one of the most decorated teams in school history. Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph, who signed with Barton College, set a new single-season record with 24 wins and finished her career with 75. She was the Region Champion for a second straight year and finished state runner-up in singles.
Azaria Junaid added 19 wins at No. 2 singles, finishing with 52 career victories. The doubles team of Ava Carnes and Charlotte Stafford went 20-4, setting school records for both single-season and career wins as a pair with 48. The duo won the region championship and finished state runner-up in doubles.
Keira Webb added 11 doubles wins and four singles wins, finishing her career with 46 total victories. Carnes (64 career wins) and Stafford (53 career wins) also rank among the program’s all-time leaders, with all five senior starters finishing among the top five in school history for total wins.
Coach Cox reached 100 career victories during the season and credited the senior class for elevating the program through multiple Elite 8, Sweet 16, Final Four, and championship appearances.
Golf: Region titles and steady state presence

Both golf teams also reached the state level under first-year coach CJ Stockel, with the girls winning another region championship and finishing sixth at state, while the boys continued a deep roster-driven effort that produced multiple state qualifiers.
The Lady Indians captured their third straight region title and seventh overall. Sophomore Maeve Hatcher led the way, winning the region individual title and finishing 14th at state. She and Handley James consistently paced the team as the top two scorers, while juniors Alex Rokoska and Kathi Ishaque provided additional depth.
Hatcher also earned low medalist honors, marking the sixth time in program history and third consecutive season a Tallulah Falls golfer earned the distinction.
On the boys side, seniors Rylee Smith, Tate Turpin, Kalvin Ngov, and Wyatt Dorsey led an experienced group alongside junior Ryder Cantrell and freshmen Owen Earp and Max Pulliam. Smith, Turpin, Cantrell, and Earp qualified for state, with Smith finishing 46th, Turpin 76th, Earp 89th, and Cantrell 95th.
Ngov, Pulliam, and Cantrell each posted sub-40 nine-hole rounds during the season, tying for a season-best 38. Cantrell also posted the top 18-hole score with a 78. The team tied a program record with a four-player 18-hole total of 326.
Track and field: Record-breaking finishes on both sides

Tallulah Falls track and field continued its rise with historic performances on both sides of the program, including the best-ever finish for the girls and another top-10 state result for the boys.
Under first-year coach Jamie Jimison, the Lady Indians placed third at the state championship meet, the highest finish in program history, after finishing runner-up in region competition. The team earned a No. 3 final ranking.
Star sprinter Joanna Miller, a defending state champion, repeated as state champion in the 100 and added another title in the 200, breaking school records in both events multiple times. She also placed second in the 400, fifth in long jump, and helped the 4×400 relay team to fourth place. She was named Region High Point Athlete for the second straight year.
Mary Kate Ball set a new school record in the 800 while placing third at state and helped the 4×800 relay team to a third-place finish. Olivia Henderson and Naomi Russo also posted top-15 finishes across the 1600 and 3200.
On the boys side, Tallulah Falls placed sixth at state for the second straight year after finishing fourth in region. Ryan Anderson highlighted the group, breaking the school 800 record and winning region titles in the 400 and 800. He finished state runner-up in the 400, placed fourth in the 800, and anchored the 4×400 relay to a state championship finish.
Teagan Penland, Alex Stefanovic, and relay squads also contributed top-15 finishes. The championship 4×800 relay team included Miguel Smith, Penland, AJ Dills, and Anderson.
Across both programs, multiple school records and personal bests underscored a season defined by depth, development, and sustained success.
