
TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. — The Tallulah Falls School rifle team turned in a strong performance at the 3 Position Southeast Regional Championship, finishing third overall in the high school division at a recent competition in Anniston, Alabama.
Senior Mitchell McGahee continued his standout season, tying a school record during the match. He placed sixth individually in the open category, posting a 594 on day two to earn a spot in the finals.
Other Tallulah Falls competitors also delivered notable performances. Meredith Maxwell finished 53rd out of 145 athletes. Desi Newkirk placed seventh in the U17 division, while Georgia Phillips took sixth in the U15 category.
Faith Stout led the team’s individual highlights, earning a silver medal with a second-place finish.
Coach Tim Stamey praised the team’s growth and cohesion following the event.
“I’m so proud of this team and their continued improvement,” Stamey said. “This team trip was a bonding experience as the support for each other continues to grow. Our next big match is the National Championship in July at Camp Perry, Ohio.”
