School’s back and so is the camera enforcement in school zones. Columbus Recorder’s Court put drivers on notice with reminders about how to avoid a citation. “As students return to the classroom, drivers will begin seeing increased activity in and around school zones. Understanding how school zone cameras work can help keep everyone safe,” the court posted on social media.
School zone warning lights do not have to be flashing for school zone camera enforcement to be active. School zone camera citations may be issued during posted school zone hours, one hour before those hours begin, and one hour after they end. School zone cameras also monitor vehicle speeds outside school zone enforcement hours.
The School Zone Camera Program is administered by RedSpeed for the Columbus Police Department. There is no in-person payment location. Please use the contact information provided on your mailed notice.
“Most importantly, please remember that school zones exist to protect our children. A few extra seconds can make all the difference.”
