Scattered power outages, strong winds impacting North Georgia

Power outages persisted across North Georgia Saturday afternoon as crews worked to restore electricity following Hurricane Isaias.

More than 56,000 utility customers statewide remained without power as of 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, according to PowerOutage.com. Outages had declined since the morning as crews repaired damage and restored service.

Across the region, utilities brought in additional crews to help, but strong winds and rain continued to complicate their work. Habersham EMC warned that winds could cause more outages through Saturday and into the night.

Crews said restoration efforts would continue until all customers were back on.
