HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. — Drivers traveling along GA 197 North should prepare for delays in the coming months as crews work to resurface 12 miles of highway.

Work began Friday, February 6, and is scheduled to continue through July 14, weather permitting. The project spans from mile marker 4.65 to mile marker 16.64.

Officials say motorists can expect single-lane closures covering up to two miles at a time as crews move along the corridor. Each day, the closure area will shift as work progresses toward completion.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, remain alert for workers and equipment, and consider allowing extra travel time when passing through the area.
