Richard “Mark” White

Richard “Mark” White, age 64, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The son of the late Charles L. and Lucille Saville White, Mark was a lifelong resident of Habersham and Banks Counties. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, a 1980 graduate of Habersham Central High School, and was proud to be an Eagle Scout.

Mark owned Economy Glass & Upholstery Company in Cornelia, a family business started in the 1950’s, where a select group of friends gathered daily to discuss anything and everything—all of whom are now wondering where they will meet. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail in glasswork and upholstery for homes, businesses, and automobiles. His specialty was restoring and replacing the interiors of antique, vintage, and modern automobiles.

At an early age, Mark became a Jeep fanatic. Road trips were punctuated by his exclamations of “Jeep, Daddy, Jeep” every time he saw one. He restored numerous Jeeps during his lifetime and was nearing completion of another at the time of his death.

Mark was a unique individual whose life was his work and who saw no reason to venture away from his own special piece of the world. He can best be summed up by saying “Mark was Mark.” He was loved, and he will be missed.

Survivors include his sister, Donna White Kearney, and her husband, R. Kevin Kearney, Capt., USN (Ret.); his sister-in-law, Selena White; his nephew, Jarred James White; and many cousins, including Gail Childers, with whom he shared a special affinity.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. S. Kent White.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home, with Dr. Brian James officiating.

Interment will follow at Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
