CLEVELAND, Ga. -The White County Board of Commissioners on Monday night approved a conditional use permit for an RC Park, a facility designed for operating radio-controlled vehicles. The facility will be located at 472 Helton Road in Cleveland on the west side of the Appalachian Parkway.
Joe Bell told the commissioners that he plans to do 3-D printouts of the different vehicles that will be used and hopes to open the 3,000 square-foot Ground Breakers RC Park soon.
“Well, I haven’t set up with the contractors yet. I’m still looking to lock down which contractors because I didn’t know if I was going to be able to do it. I’m working on quotes now. But yeah, right now I’m just going to try to get all the pieces in place so we can break ground as quickly as possible, said Bell.
The commissioners gave their approval with some restrictions that were set by the White County Planning Commission, which include limiting operations from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., along with parking and lighting parameters.
White County Planning Department Staff provided comments to the commissioners saying, “The comprehensive plan places emphasis on expanding recreational opportunities, supporting small‑scale and low‑impact commercial or tourism‑related activities, and preserving rural character by allowing uses that do not generate substantial noise, congestion, or environmental impacts. The proposed RC vehicle park aligns with these objectives.”
Similar facilities are currently operating in Braselton, Loganville, and Albany.
