LAVONIA, Ga. — The Lavonia Police Department’s four-legged officer is getting some support from a Northeast Georgia pet food manufacturer.
Nestlé Purina PetCare’s Hartwell factory recently donated Purina Pro Plan dog food to the department for K9 Lobo, Lavonia’s sole police dog.
Lobo assists officers with law enforcement operations and other public safety efforts in the Lavonia community. Purina officials said the donation is intended to help provide the nutrition needed for the demands of his work.
“We’re proud to support K9 Lobo and the Lavonia Police Department,” Purina Hartwell Factory Manager Mackenzie Browning said. “Working dogs perform demanding and important jobs every day. Providing high-quality nutrition is one small way we can help support the health, strength, and performance they need to serve their communities.”
Purina said the donation is part of the Hartwell facility’s ongoing efforts to support organizations throughout Northeast Georgia.
“We appreciate the dedication of our local law enforcement officers, both two-legged and four-legged,” Browning said. “Lobo is an important member of the department, and we’re honored to contribute to his care.”
The company says it has contributed more than $150 million to organizations supporting pets, communities and environmental initiatives over the past five years.
