
On Friday September 26th, 2003, at approximately 0545 hours EST, a homicide
occurred at the 2300 block of Level Court in Phenix City, AL. The victim in this case
was Eric Nelams. Mr. Nelams was a former service member with the United States
Army. Nelams was also the father of a son who was 9 years of age at the time of
his passing.

On the morning of the homicide, several shots were heard by witnesses who called 911. Upon arrival, responding officers found Eric Nelams deceased in his carport from apparent gunshot wounds. Multiple witnesses were interviewed and leads were followed. However, all leads have been exhausted in connection with this case. The Phenix City Police Department is looking for any new leads that can revive efforts towards solving this homicide.
Nelams has a loving family who has never given up hope on the closure of his case. The victim’s mother, Ms. Annie Whittlesey, explained, “They took my son Eric at
32. He deserved to live, and I will never stop fighting for justice for my child.”
This case is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and
conviction.
