CLEVELAND, Ga. — Part of Courthouse Square in downtown Cleveland will close overnight next week while crews remove a tree that officials say poses a safety risk.
The northeast corner of the square will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29.
White County officials said limbs have occasionally fallen from the tree, creating a hazard for pedestrians and motorists. Officials are also concerned the tree could significantly damage the historic courthouse’s foundation if it falls.
Motorists should follow posted detours, use caution, and allow extra travel time while the work is underway.
