The Opelika Police Department has arrested a suspect following a fatal shooting Wednesday morning at the Arbor Place Apartments. At approximately 10:56 a.m., Opelika Police officers responded to a report of an active shooter at 515 Fox Run Parkway. Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old female inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds.
Officers immediately began life-saving measures however, she was pronounced dead at the scene. A trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) was in the area when the call went out and apprehended the suspect near the scene.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Marc John Love of Opelika. Love has been officially charged with Murder. Opelika Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances and motive surrounding the shooting.
