OAKWOOD, Ga. — An Oakwood man was arrested April 2 following a domestic dispute in which he is accused of killing a family dog and assaulting members of his household, police said.
Officers with the Oakwood Police Department responded around 6:04 a.m. to a residence in the 5300 block of Harwood Road after receiving a report of a physical domestic disturbance, according to Lt. Stewart Webb of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
The caller told dispatchers her former boyfriend, identified as Victor Scott, 38, had possibly killed their dog and was pushing their son.
According to the report, the complainant said she was asleep in her daughter’s bedroom when Scott entered and began yelling at her. The family dog was lying on the bed at the time. During the argument, Scott allegedly picked up the dog and threw it against a wall. The complainant said the dog fell to the floor and was unresponsive.
Police said Scott then continued yelling and allegedly threw a perfume bottle at the woman, striking near her head. When their son attempted to check on the dog, Scott is accused of pushing him against a wall multiple times.
Authorities said Scott then left the room and went to his vehicle to leave for work.
The complainant told officers she lives in the apartment with Scott and their three children, ages 10, 12 and 17.
Scott was taken into custody and charged with cruelty to animals, simple battery under the Family Violence Act, simple assault involving family members, and reckless conduct.
