In a statement posted Thursday on his official Facebook page, Kemp said the activation follows consultations with Major General Wilson and the state’s readiness team.

“These Guardsmen will be organized into strike teams and further strengthen our response in the hardest hit areas as we do everything possible to keep Georgians safe,” Kemp said.

According to the governor’s office, the National Guard teams will be positioned to assist local and state agencies as conditions evolve, focusing on response and support efforts in affected communities.

Kemp also asked Georgians to keep the deployed service members and their families in their prayers as they carry out the mission.

State officials continue to monitor conditions across Northeast Georgia and urge residents to stay informed through local emergency management and trusted news sources.
