Muscogee Democrats help candidates sweep PSC election

Muscogee County Democrats helped candidates sweep the Public Service Commission election statewide Tuesday, November 4, 2025. According to Nancy Boren, Director of Elections and Registration, about 15 percent of registered voters participated in the special election, with the majority being democrats.

Voters had the rare opportunity to decide two seats on the Public Service Commission. The PSC sets utility rates, and Democrats pounced on rising Georgia Power bills during the campaign.

In District 2, democratic challenger Alicia Johnson won Muscogee County with 15,448 votes while Republican incumbent Tim Echols garnered 4,003 votes. In District 3, democratic challenger Peter Hubbard won Muscogee County with 15,383 votes. Republican incumbent Fitz Johnson received 4,016 votes.

“This victory isn’t just mine, it’s ours. It’s for the single mother choosing between groceries and her power bill, the senior trying to keep the lights on, and the young voter who showed up believing that their voice matters,” Alicia Johnson said in a press release.
