Retired local television broadcaster Calvin Floyd has died according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. Floyd died Sunday March 22, 2026, in Cummings, GA. McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus is handling his arrangements.
Floyd was a staple on WLTZ NBC 38. He hosted a morning call in show with his wife Nan called Rise N Shine. The show featured everything from politics to gospel singing. He later hosted Calvin Floyd Live and received a proclamation in his honor by then Mayor Teresa Tomlinson who was also a frequent guest.
According to his Facebook page, Floyd was on air for more than 26 years and signed off in front of a packed studio audience in August of 2012. His beloved wife Nan died almost a year ago to the date on March 25, 2025. Floyd wrote on Facebook “My life ended today. I lost Nan.”
