
A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 1:14 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, has claimed the life of an Auburn woman. Ann Moreira, 86, was critically injured when the 2023 Cadillac XT6, she was a passenger in, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Moreira was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown in Columbus, Ga., for medical treatment. At approximately 3:28 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, Moreira succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
 Fatima L. Mount, 59, of Auburn, who was the driver of the Cadillac, was also injured and transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown for medical treatment.
 The crash occurred on Alabama 51 near the 101-mile marker, approximately 13 miles south of Opelika, in Lee County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
