A well-known local baseball coach was killed Saturday in an accident involving a side-by-side recreational vehicle. Anthony “Tony” Dimitri was a passenger in the vehicle and died from injuries sustained in the accident January 24, 2026. Harris County Coroner Joe Weldon said Dimitri was thrown from the vehicle during the rollover accident and was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:55 pm.
According to Harris County Corporal JW Cook the driver of the vehicle Darrell Guthrey is currently being held in jail on a $30,394 bond. Guthrey is charged with homicide by vehicle- 1st degree and driving under the influence of alcohol-less safe.
