HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. — Habersham County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 28, due to continued hazards caused by Winter Storm Fern.

According to Habersham County Schools, crews have encountered numerous icy side roads, trees blocking roadways, and low-hanging power lines following the recent winter storm. Officials said those conditions pose a serious risk to student drivers and school buses.

School Superintendent Patrick Franklin said school officials will reevaluate road conditions tomorrow in regards to school on Thursday.

“We are working closely with county and power officials to address these issues as quickly as possible. I would like to thank our first responders and power crews for the hard work during this storm,” Franklin said.
