Grand Jury indicts Cleveland man in the death of his girlfriend

(Cleveland)- The October term White County Grand Jury reconvened this week and returned a total of 29 new indictments from cases brought before them. Among those indicted was 35-year old Justin Scott Mayo of Cleveland, he was indicted on Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery, in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 42-year old Stephanie Ann Smith, the first weekend in November of this year.

Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jeff Langley said, “that was a sad, sad case.”

Also, the grand jury re-indicted 27-year old Fredrick William Sauder in connection with the August 2016 death of Wayne Alexander of Cleveland.

D.A. Langley said the reason for the re-indicted, a co-defendant in the case, 28-year old Justin Edward Davis, has made a plea in the case and they wanted to take him off the original indictment and tweak some language from the original indictment against Sauder.
