Funeral service scheduled for broadcast legend Brian Waters

Brain Waters was an annual announcer for Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens.

Brian Waters lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 28. He was 60 years old. Visitation with family and friends will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2026, at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Boulevard in Columbus. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m.

Brian played a significant role as a host, Program and Music Director, and Operations Manager for Clean Channel Radio stations and later for PMB Broadcasting. For almost as many years, he enjoyed success with Brian Waters Productions, a voiceover artist for local and national clients.

After leaving radio, he put his talent to work as an advertising executive for OnMedia, representing his clients with care and tenacity to ensure they were well represented.

Brian also used his skill set to help the community he loved. He served as President of the Board for Paws Humane and founded a successful fundraiser for the nonprofit, Barks and Blues. Brian also served on the board of Midtown Columbus and as an Advisory Board member for Auburn University Student Communications.

Brian will also be remembered as the announcer for events across the Chattahoochee Valley, especially the annual Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens.

Tributes have poured in for the past couple of days because everyone whose life he touched was cheering him on to beat the disease that would take him away from all who knew and loved him.

Brian is the second legendary broadcaster our area has recently lost. Chuck Leonard died in December 2025. They were both icons in the community. Never let a day pass without telling those who you listen to, watch, or who touch your lives daily, Thank you for being my friend.
