Donald Irvin Cook

Donald Irvin Cook, age 94, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Born in Akron, Ohio on December 31, 1931, Donald was the beloved son of the late Frank E. Cook and Gale Geistweite Cook. A proud patriot, Don served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, a time of service he held with quiet pride throughout his life.

Following his military service, Don built a long and dependable career as a plumber and pipe fitter, retiring after many years of dedicated work. Known for his strong work ethic and steady hands, he was respected by coworkers and friends alike.

Outside of work, Don found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved blue gill fishing, followed sports with enthusiasm—especially football and hockey—and spent countless hours reading his Bible. His faith was a constant source of comfort and strength. Affectionately known to many as “Popeye,” Don was admired for his warmth, resilience, and gentle humor.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Trudy Farley Cook; his step-daughter, Tami Taylor; and his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Joseph Santos.

He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of those who loved him, including his daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Gregory DeJarnette; his son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Shannon Cook; his step-son, Aaron Zebrook; and his grandchildren, Luke, Ella, and Anna Cook, as well as Jennifer and Tommy Sutton. He is also survived by several nieces, one nephew, other relatives, and many friends.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at The Oak’s Assisted Living @ Scenic View in Baldwin, Georgia.
