David William Sims

David William Sims, age 66 of Clarkesville, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Born in Clarkesville on March 31, 1960, Mr. Sims was the son of the late Charles and Minnie Barrett Sims.  He spent his life in the outdoors logging and operating heavy equipment.  Mr. Sims enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Georgia Game Breeders Association.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sims is preceded in death by brother Wayne Sims, sisters Cathy Blackburn and Linda Poole, brother in law Ronnie Herrington, and grandson Christopher Gaultney.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer Gaultney Sims of Clarkesville, son and daughter in law Matt and Heather Sims of Sautee, son Dylan Sims of Mt. Airy, daughters and sons in law Joy and Dan Franklin of Lula and Shana and Ed Franklin of Sautee, daughter Katelyn Burton of Mt. Airy, brother Randy Sims (Robin) of Cornelia, sister Peggy Herrington of Hazlehurst, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friend Danny Helton.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, August 14th from 4 PM until 6 PM.
