DEMOREST, Ga. — A Cornelia man who was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash earlier this month has died, authorities confirmed. Terry Loudermilk passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, five days after suffering severe injuries in a wreck on Camp Creek Road. Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire said the 63-year-old Loudermilk died as a result of his injuries.
The fatal crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, just south of Camp Creek Baptist Church.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Loudermilk was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound when the truck ran off the roadway in a curve. Troopers said he overcorrected, crossed both lanes, struck a ditch, and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its side in a private yard.
Firefighters and law enforcement worked to free Loudermilk from the wreckage. Habersham EMS transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where he remained hospitalized until his death.
Loudermilk’s friends remember him for his “ever-present smile and easygoing spirit.” He is survived by his sister and brother, Betty Bennett of Cumming and Kim Loudermilk of Cornelia, as well as their spouses and children.
