BALDWIN, Ga. — A public participation meeting on Cook Construction’s proposed development near Duncan Bridge Road and Ga. 365 will proceed as scheduled tonight, Jan. 28, despite lingering cleanup efforts from last week’s winter storm. The meeting is set for 5 to 7 p.m. at the Baldwin City Hall Community Room, located at 186 U.S. 441.

Cook Construction’s Luke Pressley confirmed the meting to Now Habersham and said the company would move forward following the storm and related disruptions across the region.

The session is intended to provide information about the proposed development and gather public feedback ahead of any formal public hearing. No votes will be taken, and the meeting does not constitute an official public hearing under city zoning or annexation procedures.

The meeting follows action last week by the Baldwin City Council, which tabled Cook Construction’s annexation and zoning requests to allow additional time for public input and review.

On Monday, councilman Joe Elam said he welcomed the opportunity for residents to hear directly from the developer and ask questions.

“I haven’t had any interaction with Cook Construction other than at the council meeting, but I encouraged them to hold this session,” Elam said. “I’m hoping it goes forward. I planned to attend, and I wanted my wife and my neighbors to be able to go and hear what’s being proposed.”

City officials have emphasized that any future annexation or zoning decisions related to the project would require separate public hearings and formal action by the City Council.

Cook Construction representatives are expected to outline preliminary plans for the site and respond to questions from residents during tonight’s meeting.
