CLEVELAND, Ga. –  Despite threatening weather throughout the day, White County School District officials managed to hold an outdoor graduation ceremony Friday night for the White County High School Class of 2026.

A line of showers and thunderstorms near the scheduled early start time of 5:30 p.m. prompted officials to temporarily delay the event while monitoring conditions. Once the rain and severe weather threat moved east of the area, graduates and administrators marched onto the field for the ceremony.

School leaders, taking advantage of a break in the storms, moved quickly to begin the ceremony at White County High School Stadium. Administrators moved quickly to present diplomas to ensure graduates, families, and friends could celebrate safely before more rain arrived.

Despite the weather challenges, the ceremony allowed the Class of 2026 to enjoy an in-person outdoor graduation surrounded by family, friends, and the community.
