Bonnie Lee Funk Chambers

Bonnie Lee Funk Chambers, age 95, of Lilburn, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Born in Mount Airy, Georgia, on March 20, 1931, Bonnie was a daughter of the late Godfrey M. Funk, Sr. and Essie Hefner Funk. She was a graduate of Baldwin High School. Following her marriage to Loyd Chambers, the couple made their home in Lilburn, Georgia.

Bonnie retired as a supervisor with Graphic Packaging following 39 years of dedicated service. Known for her strong work ethic, determination, and genuine kindness, she earned the love and respect of her colleagues and formed many lasting friendships throughout her career.

A woman of deep faith and a true servant’s heart, Bonnie attended Welcome Home Baptist Church during her childhood and later became an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Lilburn. For many years, she participated in the church’s Quilting Circle, helping provide handmade gifts for families in Appalachia. She also faithfully supported Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse, preparing shoeboxes filled with gifts to bring joy to children in need. Her faith was beautifully reflected in the countless ways she gave of herself to others.

Bonnie was a loving and cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend whose life was marked by generosity, independence, and an unwavering desire to help others. Her remarkable determination and strong spirit remained evident throughout her 95 years. She had a special place in her heart for children, many of whom affectionately thought of her as their own “Grandmother” because of the love, encouragement, and kindness she shared with them. She delighted in having little treasures from the Dollar Store on hand, always ready to bring a smile to a child’s face.

Bonnie also found great joy in tending to her flowers and yard. Whether planting beautiful blooms, pulling weeds, or caring for her lawn, she took pride in keeping her surroundings lovely. Her independent spirit was evident as she continued mowing her own grass well into her 80s. Family gatherings were made even sweeter by her famous Jell-O salad, a beloved tradition that everyone looked forward to enjoying. While she leaves behind that treasured recipe, the greatest legacy she passes on is one of faith, hard work, generosity, and a lifetime of love.

Bonnie will be remembered as a woman who found happiness in giving, purpose in serving, and joy in the simple blessings of life. Her loving influence will live on through the many lives she touched, and her family and friends will forever cherish the precious memories she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her brothers, Godfrey M. Funk, Jr., Harvey W. Funk, George A. Funk, and Ralph Funk; and sisters, Emma Mae Wilson Hunter, Betty Jean Funk, and Agnes Greene Powell and Bonnie’s husband, Loyd Chambers.

Survivors include her loving daughter and son-in-law, Gloria F. and Jackie Wade; grandson, Brandon Wade; brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna Funk; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home, with Rev. Raymond Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service hour on Monday.
