BANKS COUNTY, Ga. — The Banks County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat reported Wednesday morning after the Banks County School System received a threatening voicemail.

According to authorities, the message was received at about 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 28. The caller did not identify a specific school.
Although classes were not in session due to lingering winter weather conditions, officials launched a coordinated response out of an abundance of caution.

Bomb detection K-9 units from multiple agencies searched every school in the district. Assisting agencies included the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Schools Police Department, and Roswell Police Department.
No suspicious devices or items were found during the searches.

The investigation remains active and is being handled by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.

Officials said the safety and security of students, staff, and the community remain the top priority and thanked the school system and partner agencies for their cooperation as the investigation continues.

Banks County students will return to class on Thursday, Jan. 29. The school system is operating on a 2-hour delay due to the weather.
