Auburn employee charged after giving ‘trade secrets’ to rivals

The Auburn Police Department announced this week David Rudolph Jenrath, 24, of Franklin, Tennessee was arrested on charges of theft of trade secrets and computer tampering.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in the 300 block of South Donahue Drive. A press release from police states a business reported that sensitive information was stolen from the business and distributed to their competitors. The business reported that one of their competitors received the information and turned it over to them.

WSFA identified the suspect as an employee of Auburn University and the business as Auburn Athletics. The Montgomery television station obtained court records that revealed Jenrath was sharing information with sports opponents in an effort to harass Auburn University.

Warrants were obtained, and Jenrath turned himself in to the Auburn Police Department. He was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
