Adams named White County System Teacher of the Year

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Welding and Metals instructor Mark Adams at White County High School has been selected as the 2026 White County School System Teacher of the Year.  The announcement was made Thursday night during a special program that recognized teachers of the year from each of the schools in the county, along with employees of the year and bus drivers of the year (listed below).

Adams was selected as the WCHS Teacher of the Year back in February. Adams was smothered with congratulations following the presentation, and he was asked about the award. “Well, I’m humbled by it because there’s a lot of great teachers here, and so I’m just so blessed to be able to be a part of this White County School System,” commented Adams.

White County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jonathan Stribling had much praise from Adams, “Very excited for Mr. Adams. I think it’s very, very possible that Mr. Adams may be the best welding teacher in the state. And I really feel that way. I had the privilege of teaching alongside him when he first came to White County. I was on the faculty at White County High School. So I’ve seen it firsthand. I know the relationships he builds with students. I know the pragmatic task that he teaches them. And he is just a phenomenal teacher and a great representative of White County for the Georgia teacher of the year,” said Stribling.

Also during the event, Wanda King was presented with the System Employee of the Year, and Mandie Harris was awarded the system-wide Bus Driver of the Year award.
