From weddings to anniversaries, births, and any other special events, Albright’s has served the Chattahoochee Valley. They have been a staple in the community for 89 years. That is an incredible accomplishment for a small business run by generations of the family.
The announcement on social media may have come as a surprise to some, but running a local world-class florist business is no small task. This was their post late this afternoon on October 5, 2026, from Glenn Albright, Jr.
“As a florist dealing with flowers, maybe an analogy helps describe my thoughts, “Seeds are planted, they mature and grow, bloom brightly, and then they begin to fade.”
The Albright family has served Columbus for 89 years. Starting in Rose Hill in 1937, Agnes and Glenn Albright developed a loving partnership with Columbus that grew and prospered over time. Several additional acquisitions were made, and in 1974 we moved to our present location on University Avenue.
Through birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, get well wishes, weddings, births, our churches, and our special events – we have given our all in an effort to share our talents with our loving and faithful customers.
The time has too quickly come and our last day of operation will be Thursday, October 15, 2026.
We will continue to update as we move through this process. Through this heavy heart, I could not close without extending my love, thanks, and devotion to each one of you who have allowed us to serve you in so many ways.
With heartfelt love,
Glenn Albright, Jr.
David Benefield of Highland Hall has been in the florist business for 40 years. He may have been a competitor, but he was also a friend.
“Like everyone in our area, I love the Albright family. I have nothing but admiration for them. When we needed some roses or other flowers for an event, we could get them from the Albrights, and likewise. We helped each other,” said David.
Albright’s Florist is a treasure and will be missed by many. Visit their location at 3400 University Avenue in Columbus or call (706) 675-5034.
