Week Five is in the books! Here are the scores and relevant information for each of the local contests.

BANKS COUNTY 14, GORDON CENTRAL 0 (partial score)

The Leopards were up 14-0 in the third quarter against Gordon Central, according to sources.

#5 COMMERCE 85, CHESTATEE 0

Commerce broke its school record for most points scored and largest margin of victory with an 85-0 win over Chestatee, besting their 1966 83-0 score over East Hall. The Tigers got a scoop-and-score from Marco Huff on the first play of the game. He added a 7-yd TD run, then a Jayden Lockear blocked punt score made it 21-0. Huff added a 59-yd TD, then Tate Kirk hit Essien Lockleer on a TD to push it to 35-0 after one. Tate Kirk had a 28-yd TD to Ty Sorrells in the second, then everyone got involved. Robert Spry (TD), Haden Crawford (Safety), Jamario Bonds (TD), Bryson Parks (TD)…and it was 65-0 at the half. Bonds added another TD run, Colby Chester added another, and Brody McDaniel on a punt return. 85-0 win, and moving to 4-0 on the season.

CRESCENT 38, #9 FRANKLIN COUNTY 3

A shocking final, Franklin County fell 38-3 to take their first loss of the season against Crescent.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 28, LOGANVILLE 13

Habersham Central grabbed its second win of the season with a 28-13 victory over Loganville, moving to 2-2 overall.

#7 JEFFERSON 20, OCONEE COUNTY 0

The Dragons didn’t bend at all, as Jefferson rolled to a 20-0 final. It was a second straight shutout and closed the first half of the regular season. Max Brown had a TD run, while Boone Horn threw two TDs – one each to Carter Perrin and Nick Emerson.

#7 LUMPKIN COUNTY 42, EAST FORSYTH 35

The #7-ranked Indians stayed unbeaten with a tight 42-35 win over East Forsyth. Lumpkin County is now 4-0 on the season. Kolson Howell had five rushing TDs on the night, including a late rushing score from four yards out. He also had a 37-yd TD, and Xander Dorsey had a 17-yd TD.

GILMER 53, RABUN COUNTY 52 (OT)

Rabun County lost a heart-breaker, 53-52 in overtime, while holding a 45-42 lead with the ball in the closing minutes before Gilmer got a big break to reach overtime. Gilmer had held a 28-24 lead at the break.

STEPHENS COUNTY 42, DAWSON COUNTY 14

The Indians moved to 2-2 overall with a 42-14 win over Dawson County. The Tigers now drop to 0-5 on the year.

TOWNS COUNTY 14, CHEROKEE CHRISTIAN 7

The Indians got back in the win column and move to 2-3 overall with a solid 14-7 win over Cherokee Christian.

RINGGOLD 28, UNION COUNTY 6

Union County dropped to 0-4 on the season with a 28-6 loss to Ringgold, opening region play. It was a tight, 14-3 game at the break, and the Panthers’ second field goal got it to 14-6 late in the third before Ringgold took over from there.

WHITE COUNTY 28, FANNIN COUNTY 24

The Warriors rallied yet again (fourth time this season) to move to 4-1 with a thrilling 28-24 win at Fannin County. White County fell behind 14-0 before Brinn Robinson hit Zach Godfrey on a 28-yd TD in the second. A Savion Anderson 4-yd TD run made it a tied game just before the break. Robinson then threw a go-ahead TD of 39 yards to John Jarrard early in the fourth for a 21-17 lead. Fannin would rally with 5:14 to go to take a 3-point lead, and the Warriors drove 87 yards on the final drive, scoring with 14 seconds left on Robinson’s 1-yd TD run.
