HOMER, Ga. — A Habersham County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer suffered minor injuries Friday morning when a patrol vehicle overturned during heavy rain in Banks County.
According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was returning from training hosted by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association in Madison when the crash occurred on U.S. 441 near McCoy Bridge Road.
Authorities said the 2021 Dodge Charger the deputy was driving slid off the roadway in a heavy downpour, traveled up an embankment and overturned.
The deputy was taken from the scene for treatment of minor injuries.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash. Habersham County Sheriff Robin Krockum thanked Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed and his staff for their quick response and assistance at the scene.
