CLEVELAND, Ga. — The White County Trail Rangers, a local program designed to introduce second- through fifth-grade students to mountain biking, hosted their first Bikes-A-Thon last weekend.

On March 22, 20 students participated in the event at Yonah Preserve Trails in Cleveland. Riders aimed to log as many miles as possible between 3:15 and 5 p.m. to help raise money for the team’s upcoming season.

In total, participants rode a combined 102.5 miles on the trail system. The top male and female riders, Ethan Swanzy and Mercy Hogan, each logged 8.5 miles.

The White County Trail Rangers are entering their second season and plan to participate in four statewide expedition events beginning April 18. During these events, riders will meet with teams from across Georgia to build skills, play games, and learn the basics of mountain bike racing.

The program aims to encourage children to stay active, enjoy the outdoors and build connections through cycling.
