BATESVILLE, Ga. — A fundraiser has been launched for a Batesville-area family after a house fire left a father seriously burned and destroyed the home he spent years building.

The man was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital Saturday after suffering burns in the fire. The blaze occurred at a home north of Batesville and resulted in significant damage.

According to a GoFundMe organized by family friend Wyatt Roberts, the father suffered first-degree burns over 15% of his body while trying to save what he could from the home.

“Her father, who personally spent years building that home, suffered first-degree burns over 15% of his body while trying to save what he could,” the fundraiser states. “He is already limited in his ability to work due to a previous incident, making this loss even more overwhelming for their family.”

Loved ones say the fire not only displaced the family but also took a deeply personal toll, destroying a home built by hand over the course of years.

Two GoFundMe campaigns have now been created to support the family’s recovery efforts. One, titled “Help Kaylee’s Family Recover from the Fire,” focuses on immediate needs including medical expenses, temporary housing and basic necessities.

A second fundraiser, “Help Cassandra’s Family Recover from Fire,” has also been launched to provide additional support as the family begins the long process of rebuilding.

The story has resonated across Northeast Georgia, with community members sharing both fundraisers and offering support in the days following the fire.
