TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. — Tallulah Falls School athletics turned in a strong showing across multiple sports Wednesday, highlighted by golf match wins, a shutout victory in boys soccer, and dominant performances from both tennis teams.
Golf teams sweep Rabun County
The TFS golf teams earned a pair of wins on the road against Rabun County, with the Indians posting a 167-173 victory and the Lady Indians winning 85-95.
Max Pulliam led the boys as low medalist with a 38, followed by Ryder Cantrell at 41. Rylee Smith shot a 43, while Tate Turpin (45) and Owen Earp (46) rounded out the top five. Kalvin Ngov, Jayden Hangbo and Emmitt Likins each carded a 48, and Wyatt Dorsey finished with a 55.
On the girls side, Maeve Hatcher earned low medalist honors with a 41. Handley James followed at 44, while Alex Rokoska and Kathi Ashique each shot a 47.
“Today was a time to sharpen the iron,” coach CJ Stockel said.
JV soccer blanks Athens Academy
The TFS junior varsity boys soccer team recorded a 4-0 shutout over Athens Academy on the road.
Moises Barragan and Andrija Sajic scored in the first half to give the Indians control early. Waldon McIntosh and Barragan added second-half goals to secure the win.
Barragan finished with two goals, bringing his season total to seven. Sajic added his sixth, while McIntosh netted his second of the season.
“We played incredibly well,” coach David Jimenez said. “I could not be prouder of the team. Got a few yellows and a red for bad decisions on our part, which we will be working on. Otherwise, I’m incredibly proud of my boys. The other team was strong.”
TFS improved to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in region play.
Tennis teams continue dominant runs
Both TFS tennis teams picked up key region wins over George Walton on Wednesday.
The Lady Indians remained undefeated, improving to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in region play with a 5-0 sweep.
Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph (10-0), Azaria Junaid (10-0) and Madison Phillips (4-1) all earned singles wins. Doubles teams Ava Carnes and Charlotte Stafford (10-0) and Keira Webb and Malwina Mroczek (3-0) also secured victories.
“Solid region win for the girls once again against a team that fought hard,” coach Anthony Cox said. “We executed well after a little bit of a sluggish start in some spots. This weekend in the Heart of Georgia Tournament in Macon will be a big challenge that we are looking forward to.”
The boys team also earned a 4-1 region win, improving to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in region play.
Reilly Cox and Elijah Pinney picked up singles victories, while doubles teams Christian David and Jackson Davis, along with Cowen Perry and Glad Puscasu, both won in straight sets.
“I’m really happy for our boys and how they took care of business today for the most part,” Cox said. “Our doubles were especially focused to drop only one game.”
