CLEVELAND, Ga. — The White County Lady Warriors were at Chestatee last night to take on the Pickens Dragonettes in the second round of regional playoffs.

The Warrior girls were off to a good start, putting up points early in the first quarter. But it wouldn’t take long for the Dragonettes to catch up, and a battle for the lead was on.

While the teams were able to close out the first period with a 7-point tie, Pickens County would soon take and keep the lead, and the game would enter halftime with Pickens ahead by ten, 23-13.

For the return to gameplay in the third period, both teams were making well-shot baskets; the Dragonettes would maintain their lead over the Warriors, 32-21.

In the final period, the Warriors began their battle to pull ahead and reached a one-possession lead, but it was a little too late in the game, and Pickens would take the victory by only three points.  Final score 38-35 Pickens.

That closes out region play for the Warriors. However, there is a small chance the Lady Warriors will secure a spot in the GHSA playoffs, depending on the final scores of a few games. If White County gets a shot, the GHSA playoffs begin on Tuesday.
