RABUN COUNTY, Ga. — A Rabun County man was arrested after authorities say he threatened and fired a weapon at utility workers attempting to restore electrical service.
The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call Tuesday regarding a man threatening power crews in the area of Bluebird Lane and Old Highway 441.
Deputies responded and began searching for the suspect. Investigators said they later located 56-year-old Bobby Allen Mashburn of Lakemont and took him into custody without incident.
Following the investigation, Mashburn was arrested and charged with one count of reckless conduct, two counts of terroristic threats, and two counts of aggravated assault. Authorities said they seized a firearm in connection with the incident.
Rabun County Sheriff Mark Gerrells said threats or acts of violence against utility workers or others performing essential services will not be tolerated.
“These individuals are working to restore services and keep our community safe,” Gerrells said in a press release. “Actions that place them in danger are taken very seriously.”
The incident remains under investigation.
