A man is accused of stealing over $2,700 worth of merchandise from nine different stores in Georgia, according to police.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Graham of Winston Salem, North Carolina, allegedly used stolen account numbers to make purchases at stores across Georgia.

Athens-Clarke County police said the investigation began on February 16 when Lowe’s Home Improvement notified its loss prevention staff of a suspect who was using stolen account numbers to make purchases at multiple stores in the Athens area.

When officers were notified, they received information that the suspect had fraudulent identification and stolen account numbers.

“Graham had obtained an account number that he used with an altered ID with the victim’s name on it,” explains Athens-Clarke County Police Department Public Information Officer Jody Thompson.

Police found Graham in his vehicle, along with additional stolen items, Thompson says. They took Graham into custody and charged him with identity fraud and possession of a fraudulent ID. Authorities say additional charges are pending from various jurisdictions across Georgia.

According to online jail records, Graham was booked at the Clarke County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000.
