Wanda Sue Grant Simmons Watkins

Wanda Sue Grant Simmons Watkins, age 75, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Mrs. Watkins was born on January 28, 1951, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late JC Grant and Lillian Grant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, David Tony Grant and Charles James Grant.

Wanda was a faithful member of The Flatts of Middle Creek, a church she dearly loved. She cherished the members of her church family and enjoyed being involved in the choir. Wanda especially loved to sing solos, and her voice could often be heard lifting praises through beloved hymns such as “Blessed Assurance” and “Sweet Beulah Land.” Wanda also enjoyed visiting antique stores. She spent many years serving others through her work as a Medical Transcriptionist at Habersham Medical Center and Stephens County Hospital, where she was a dedicated and valued employee. She will be remembered as a loving and beautiful wife, a faithful Christian, and a cherished friend whose memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 18 years, Mickey Watkins, of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Tim Simmons and their son, Parris Simmons, all of Baldwin; daughter, Misty Watkins and her children, Toriebeth Watkins, Zak and Zane McClellan, all of Cleveland; son, CJ Watkins, of Carnesville; sister, Alice Grant, of San Antonio, TX; cousin, Jan Reiff, of Florida.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at The Flatts of Middle Creek, with Rev. Kenny Kelby, Rev. Marty Kelby, and Rev. Jamie Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
