The LaGrange Police Department issued a public apology for a wrongful arrest made earlier this month. The apology was posted on Facebook by Chief Garrett Fiveash.
On Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, an officer with our department arrested Tiffany Nicole Posey for driving with an expired license. This arrest was made in error due to a misinterpretation of case law. The charge has since been dismissed and removed from our system, and we have distributed an outline of the proper procedure to all our personnel.
We have also clarified some wording in our departmental policy to avoid any future misconceptions. We apologize for the embarrassment and inconvenience Mrs. Posey and her family experienced, and I am personally thankful for the grace and understanding she showed me when we spoke.
