HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A fast-moving fire destroyed a home and multiple vehicles Sunday evening, leaving behind heavy damage but also a small moment of hope.
Hall County Fire Rescue responded around 5:30 p.m. on April 19 to the 3600 block of Baker Road after reports of smoke in the area.
When crews arrived, they found a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to nearby vehicles and surrounding woods. Firefighters began attacking the blaze from the outside while attempting to make entry and search the structure.
Conditions inside quickly worsened, forcing crews to exit the home and continue fighting the fire defensively.
Firefighters remained on scene until the bulk of the flames were extinguished and hot spots were fully contained. The homeowner was not at the residence at the time and was accounted for.
The home is considered a total loss, along with multiple vehicles on the property.
As crews worked through the aftermath, they found and rescued several kittens on the property.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
This was the second Hall County home destroyed by fire over the weekend. Early Sunday, April 19, flames engulfed a single-story home on Russell Drive northwest of Gainesville.
No one was injured in the blaze.
The cause of that fire was also being investigated.
