ATHENS — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Derek Dooley will return to Northeast Georgia this week for a two-day campaign swing alongside Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp as part of what his campaign is calling the “Georgia First Tour.”
The tour includes stops in Madison, Franklin, Habersham, Stephens and Banks counties on Thursday, May 7, followed by events in Fannin, Hall and Morgan counties on Friday, May 8. Each stop is listed as an open meet-and-greet event.
Dooley, a political outsider and former college football coach, previously visited Habersham County during a campaign stop earlier this cycle, where he focused on building support in rural communities and emphasized what his campaign has framed as a “Georgia-first” approach to federal policy.
Thursday’s schedule begins at 9 a.m. at McEachin Farm in Danielsville, followed by a 10:30 a.m. stop at the Franklin Springs Public Safety Building. At 12:30 p.m., Dooley is scheduled to visit Crossroads Cafe in Clarkesville for a Habersham County lunch event, followed by afternoon stops in Stephens County at 2 p.m. at Linda’s Place in Toccoa and in Banks County at 3:30 p.m. at the Homer Fire Department.
Friday events begin at 9:30 a.m. at Conservative Grounds Cafe in Mineral Bluff, continue with a noon lunch stop at Sweet Magnolia’s Cafe & Bakery in Gainesville, and conclude at 3 p.m. at Farmview Market in Madison.
