The Columbus Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit made 53 arrests, cleared 66 cases, and filed 327 charges between May 22 – August 2, 2026. The reporting period covers the summer months, when increased activity throughout the community can contribute to higher reports of property-related crimes.
During this period, investigators handled a wide range of property-related offenses, including theft, burglary, entering auto, shoplifting, identity fraud, forgery, financial transaction card fraud, criminal damage and exploitation of an elderly person.
Property crimes can also be connected to broader criminal activity, including more serious offenses. Through these investigations, the Property Crimes Unit works to identify offenders, recover stolen property, and help prevent further crime.
