A Columbus man was shot and killed at a Phenix City hotel early Monday morning May 11, 2026, according to the Russell County Coroner’s Office. The victim was identified as 36-year-old Harvey Lee Walker Jr.
Coroner Arthur Sumbry said Walker was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:00 am at the Colonial Inn Hotel on the 280 bypass in Phenix City. Walker died from a single gunshot wound. The victim’s body will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery, AL for an autopsy.
The Phenix City Police Department is investigating the shooting death and more details are expected to be forthcoming.
